William T. “Ted” Phillips, Sr.

Chairman

As a 17 year old, Ted Phillips got his first construction project – a $495 clearing project for the Tennessee Valley Authority. Mr. Phillips founded Phillips & Jordan (P&J) with his friend, Ted Jordan, in 1952. In 1959, the company was incorporated and Ted was elected President and Chairman. Initially specializing in land clearing and grubbing, the company evolved into a diversified heavy civil construction company. In the mid 1970’s, P&J merged with Kanab Energy Services, a public entity, and Ted Phillips stayed on to run the company. He bought P&J back in 1985. A true pioneer in the industry, Ted Phillips remains P&J’s shareholder, Chairman, and the guiding force in our corporate culture.

William T. “Teddy” Phillips, Jr.

Chief Executive Officer

Teddy Phillips joined P&J in 1989. Ted Sr. turned over the Chief Executive Officer title to Teddy in 2009. Teddy has played a major role in the growth of P&J over the past three decades and in recent years was instrumental in re-positioning the company’s focus to its current key markets. During his tenure at P&J, Teddy has served as Vice President of Real Estate & Corporate Development, Executive Vice-President, and President. Under Teddy’s leadership, P&J has achieved substantial growth and consistent profitability. Teddy majored in Business Management while attending Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina and served on the University’s Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2009. He currently serves on the board of directors of companies in the real estate and construction sectors.

J. Patrick McMullen

President

Patrick McMullen joined P&J in 1994. In 2013, Teddy Phillips handed over the position of President to Patrick. Prior to assuming the responsibilities of President, Patrick was P&J’s Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration. Patrick is responsible for developing and executing corporate strategy, and in doing so, works closely with the operations and corporate services teams. Prior to coming to P&J, Patrick worked for Avisco, Inc., an environmental construction company, where he served as Vice President of Operations. Patrick is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business. In addition to his duties at P&J, Patrick plays a key role in a number of P&J affiliated companies.
