A roughly $400 million component of the $2.13 billion Indian River Lagoon – South Project, the C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area (RSTA) project is part of an expedited package of Everglades restoration projects and will be completed as a phased project approximately 12,000 acres in size and comprised of a 3,400 acre reservoir with a storage capacity of 50,600 acre feet, and a pump station with a capacity of 1,100 cubic feet per second.
Phase I of the C-44 RSTA project was awarded to Phillips & Jordan with work scope elements that included demolition of existing structures and irrigation systems, construction of 3.4 miles of paved access roads and 7.8 miles of rock maintenance roads, improvements to the C-133/133A canals, construction of the C-133 canal spillway, and construction of the C-133/Citrus Boulevard bridge and culvert with roadway improvements and turn lanes.
