NORTH EDINBURG TO PALMITO 345 KV TRANSMISSION LINE CONSTRUCTION

The $309M North Edinburg to Palmito project involves the construction of approximately 96 miles of new 345 kV transmission line from the AEP Texas Central Company North Edinburg Substation to the Sharyland Utilities Palmito Substation located adjacent to the Brownsville Public Utility Board Loma Alta Substation. Phillips & Jordan is currently performing right-of-way (ROW) clearing and access road construction for the eastern half of the project which is approximately 48 miles in length.
Work scope elements being performed by Phillips & Jordan include clearing and grubbing of transmission line ROW; reduction and disposal of cleared vegetation; installation of matting for ROW access and structure construction; installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures; and installation of culverts, fencing/gates, and construction entrances for the ROW corridor. After line construction is completed, Phillips & Jordan will be responsible for site restoration in accordance with land owner commitment agreements. Due to the remote location of the project work, Phillips & Jordan has been required to implement a unique logistics approach to fulfill material and resource requirements.
